How to enable rsh on Solaris 10?


On server where RSH has to be enabled

Prior to rsh setup:

[server1::root:/]# svcs -a | egrep 'inetd:default|shell:default'
disabled 11:22:28 svc:/network/shell:shell
online 11:22:25 svc:/network/inetd:default

Setting up rsh:
Step (1): Create .rhosts file

[server1::root:/]# cat .rhosts
server2 root

Step (2): Enable "/network/inetd:default" and "/network/shell:default" services
[server1::root:/]# svcadm enable /network/shell:default
[server1::root:/]# svcs -a | egrep 'inetd:default|shell:default'
online 11:22:25 svc:/network/inetd:default
online 11:27:02 svc:/network/shell:default




On server, from where RSH to rsh-client
Prior to rsh setup:

[server2::root:/]# rsh server1 hostname
server1: Connection refused
After to rsh setup:
[server2::root:/]# rsh server1 hostname
server1
